Here are the Editor's Picks articles for the 12 Step Recovery Site! These are the top ten articles that your 12 Step Recovery Editor feels are most important for you to read. Enjoy!
1. How to Make Amends - Step 8
Every August (8th month), I republish this article. It is one of my most read and I hope one of my most helpful. Your ability to make amends with confidence and sincerity depends on how well you prepare. Don't believe that you can go this route alone.
2. Step 9 1/2; The Promises
The Promises as given to us in the Big Book can be both prayer and meditation. When and how we see the Promises unfold depends on us, the action we are willing to take, and how we are living life in recovery.
3. The Dime Story
This is one of the articles I publish annually. There are times when we turn our lives over to our Higher Power but we lack the absolute trust He hears us. This is not just a story but an "activity" for anyone who is feeling spiritually alone. If you are sincere, you will be truly amazed! Try it!
4. Living Sober
Regardless of how long we have been sober, socializing and sobriety can test us. We have to remember that everyone has a choice and ours is to not pick up no matter how we feel.
Resentments are dangerous, yet no matter how hard we try we can still find ourselves in the middle of one. The good news is that we can now recognize a resentment and find serenity.
6. Grateful Recovery
Many addicts talk about being grateful to be an addict. I can't say that for myself but I am tremendously grateful for my recovery. Become a part of the Grateful Recovery group.
7. Guilt and Shame
There are many things you can say you might feel guilty about. But do you feel shame? There is a big difference between guilt and shame and we must get rid of both to live in peace and serenity.
8. Progress Not Perfection
We love the phrase "progress not perfection". We have worked hard to rid ourselves of the need to be perfect. But do we truly mean it the way it was intended or do we use it as an excuse for old bevaviors?
9. Step Twelve
Step Twelve is the last of the steps but marks a new beginning for us. We have found faith but now we have to prove that faith through service to anyone in need.
10. The God Box
I've resurrected this article because I have had to remind myself lately about turning it over. Life's problems and concerns are challenging. Those of us in recovery do not have a corner on this market. The God Box is for everyone and anyone who wants to feel peace within themselves.
